Assure Controls Receives Grant Award

Carlsbad, California, March 15, 2006 — Assure Controls recently received notification and has completed all requirements for a $52,000 product development award for the company's QwikLite™ onsite bioluminescent plankton water contaminant test from the Center for Commercialization of Advanced Technology (CCATSM). This is the Assure Bioassay Control's second award.

"I want to express my appreciation for the support from CCAT and this grant award is going to accelerate some valuable next steps towards our product release of the QwikLite Testing System," stated Bryan Bjorndal, president and founder of Assure Controls.

The CCAT program is supported by Congress and funded through the Office of Naval Research, and is designed to fast track the commercialization of new innovative technologies that meet key technology needs and requirements for the Department of Defense. CCAT does this through its sponsorship of competitive solicitations that invite government labs, industry, and academic research institutions to submit applications that are responsive to solicitation topics of interest.

"Mr. Bryan Bjorndal has been the grant award point of contact and principal investigator as president of Assure Controls. He has received the unanimous approval by the CCAT Executive Board for grant support to commercialize technology for detection of contaminants in water," stated Tom Sheffer, CCAT program director.

Bjorndal noted that several government environmental projects have already been completed using the QwikLite technology. The CCAT grant is largely focused on the compilation of thousands of field and laboratory measurements as well as correlations to new field experiences. The final study is intended to be published in a peer-reviewed scientific journal for environmental water quality.

"The Board has been consistently impressed with not only the technology's potential to solve a critical defense and commercial need but also Mr. Bjorndal's business acumen and commitment," said Sheffer.
